THE CONGRESS OF ABORIGINAL PEOPLES ELECTS A NATIONAL VICE CHIEF AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Dwight Dorey elected as CAP National Vice-Chief at 40th AGA
October 20, 2011, Ottawa, Ontario – The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples (CAP) released the following statement today to congratulate Dwight A. Dorey on his election as Vice-Chief of CAP.
Dwight is a Mi'kmaq from Nova Scotia, who has held high-profile positions in native politics at home in Nova Scotia and on the national scene from his base in Ottawa. He is widely recognized as an effective negotiator, communicator and visionary and has advanced the interests of off-reserve non-status and status Indians, Inuit and Métis Aboriginal Peoples.
“Dwight brings a wealth of experience and confidence to the position and we expect real progress for the constituency,” states Betty Ann Lavallée the National Chief of CAP.
Vice-Chief Dorey will continue to provide a strong voice for the Forgotten Peoples in this role. He will continue to help build the relationships necessary to advance the interests and relations of CAP’s constituents. “We wish Dwight all the very best in his new role and look forward to a productive working relationship and many successes together,” added Chief Lavallée.
