AIAI ANTICIPATES POSITIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH NEW MINISTER OF ABORIGINAL AFFAIRS

London, ON – The Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI) commends Member of Provincial Parliament, Kathleen Wynne on her appointment as Minister of Aboriginal Affairs for the McGuinty government.

Grand Chief Denise Stonefish offered, “AIAI welcomes Minister Wynne to her new position, knowing that she brings a great deal of experience to the table.” Having first been elected in October 2003 for Don Valley West, Minister Wynne has served as the Minister of Education and most recently as the Minister of Transportation.

With a proven track record, AIAI is confident that Minister Wynne will carry on this tradition in her current appointment. “We look forward to a positive working relationship with Minister Wynne to help find and implement solutions for First Nations,” stressed Grand Chief Stonefish. Some of the key issues that AIAI will focus on during this term include implementation of the Ipperwash Inquiry recommendations, Jurisdiction and Consultation, among others.

AIAI is mandated as a political territorial organization to defend and enhance the Aboriginal and Treaty rights of its eight member First Nations. Their website may be visited at www.aiai.on.ca .
