Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples Elects
Senator Vernon White as Chair

Ottawa (November 6, 2012) – Today, the members of the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples elected Senator Vernon White (Ontario) , as chair of the committee. Senator Lillian Dyck (Saskatchewan) remains as deputy chair.

The committee was first created in December 1989 and has a mandate to examine legislation and matters relating to the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada.

Other members of the committee include senators:

Salma Ataullahjan (Toronto – Ontario)

Patrick Brazeau (Repentigny - Quebec)

Larry W. Campbell (British Columbia)

Jacques Demers (Rigaud - Quebec)

Sandra M. Lovelace Nicholas (New Brunswick)

Dennis Glen Patterson (Nunavut)

Nancy Greene Raine (Thompson-Okanagan-Kootenay - British Columbia)

Nick G. Sibbeston (Northwest Territories)

Charlie Watt (Inkerman - Quebec)

Le sénateur Vernon White élu président du Comité sénatorial permanent des peuples autochtones

Ottawa (le 6 novembre 2012) – Aujourd’hui, les membres du Comité sénatorial permanent des peuples autochtones ont élu le sénateur Vernon White (Ontario) à la présidence. La sénatrice Lillian Dyck (Saskatchewan) continuera d’occuper le poste de vice-présidente du comité.

Créé en décembre 1989, le comité a pour mandat d’examiner les projets de loi ainsi que toute autre affaire au sujet des peuples autochtones du Canada. 

Les autres membres du comité sont les sénateurs suivants :
