Second term of Tsawwassen First Nation Legislature begins
TSAWWASSEN, BC, Nov. 6, 2012 - The second term of Canada's first urban First Nations government will begin on November 7, 2012. The first three-year term ended with the TFN election on September 5, 2012.
"Our first Legislature accomplished a lot for the development of our Government and our People's future," said Chief Bryce Williams. "They set a very high standard for our new Legislature and Council - and I'm pleased that we have a mix of Councillors from our first Legislature and some new Councillors too. I'm looking forward to moving ahead with our economic development goals, and the further development of our Government, culture and services." Among the topics to be discussed at this Legislative session are TFN's Land Management Act, the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan, the draft Service Plan Update, the Economic Development Progress Report and other topics.
The Legislature will meet November 7, 13, 15, 19 and 21. The formal opening of the Legislature will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012. |
