OHSWEKEN (BCN) - Six Nations elected council is inviting community members to join an HST protest trip to Ottawa, according to a press release.
Chief Bill Montour is asking anyone who plans to attend to contact the council administration office by March 5 so enough buses can be ordered to accomodate everyone. The office is open Monday to Friday and can be contacted at 519-445-2201.
Participants will board buses at 4 a.m. on Wednesday March 10 at the Six Nations Community Hall and return after 10 p.m. Cost of the buses will be paid by council. Participants are reminded to dress warm, bring chairs if needed and money for food, the press release said.
Participatns are encouraged to bring flags and wear traditional dress.
Hundreds of First Nations peoples will gather March 10 on Parliament Hill to protest the HST.
Six Nations council is pursuing point of sale exemption and overall immunity from the 13 per cent HST to be implemented July 1.
