Four families lose homes in mobile home park blaze near Vernon, B.C.

VERNON, B.C. - Four families have lost their homes after a fire ripped through a mobile home park on First Nations territory near Vernon, B.C.

The entire park was evacuated Friday when the blaze began at Coyote Creek Villas on Okanagan Indian band land.

Firefighters from the Armstrong-Spallumcheen department came to residents' aid because the band's fire department was short-staffed.

They provided 12 men and two engines to douse the blaze.

Three homes were destroyed, while another was heavily damaged.

The four families are being temporarily housed with the help of Emergency Social Services. (Kelowna Daily Courier) -CP-
