AIAI Congratulates Kathleen Wynne and Looks Forward To Continuing Working Relationship

London, ON - The Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI) extents its congratulations to Kathleen Wynne for her victory in the Ontario Liberal Party leadership race and looks forward to continuing its working relationship with the Liberal government.

“For the past ten years, AIAI has worked with the Liberal government on a long list of critical issues such as Health, Jurisdiction, Consultation and recognition of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,” stated Grand Chief Gord Peters.

“The Liberal Government has certainly made efforts to address First Nation issues but there is much more work to be done. Under the leadership of Ms. Wynne, we hope to build and continue our working relationship based on honour, respect, transparency and collaboration.” emphasized Grand Chief Peters. “Ms. Wynne experience as the Minister of Education and Aboriginal Affairs provides her with a certain level of insight into First Nation issues and will be beneficial in continuing our relationship.”

The AIAI is mandated as a political territorial organization to defend and enhance the Aboriginal and Treaty rights of its eight member First Nations. Visit them online at www.aiai.on.ca, https://twitter.com/aiai_comms, www.facebook.com/aiai.pto, www.youtube.com/user/AIAIAdmin.
