Initial Assignment: Women’s and Integrated Day/ Residential Services, Addictions Program

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada's leading Addiction and Mental Health teaching hospital. Position Description:
The Addiction Program is currently seeking a full-time temporary Counsellor Therapist 1 to provide clinical services in both the Women’s and the Integrated Day Residential Services.Reporting to the Manager of the Integrated Day/Residential Service, the incumbent willprovide direct clinical care for adults, primarily women, who are suffering from an addiction or concurrent disorder. You will utilize your knowledge and skills in substance use counselling toprovide various counseling related treatment programs and interventions. You will liaise withother services in the Addictions Program and community agencies to coordinate care forclients. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to programdevelopment; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in theresearch activities of the program. You will be accountable for the planning and delivery oftreatment programs in a manner that is safe for the client and respectful of diversity. You willsupport a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This role requires some evening hours. This positionis located at 60 White Squirrel Way.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or a related health sciences field, combined with two or more years’ clinical experience in thetreatment of substance abuse problems or concurrent disorders. It is preferred that thecandidate has obtained addiction counselling certification from a recognized and accreditedbody or is willing to obtain certification from the Canadian Addiction Counsellor CertificationFederation (CACCF). If in a regulated health care discipline, the candidate must show proof ofregistration and be a member in good standing within their respective College. In addition,the successful candidate will possess demonstrated skills and experience in substance abusecounselling, in individual and group counseling and clinical assessment. The candidate willalso have the ability to function as a case manager for a diverse client population in both aresidential and outpatient clinical setting. Knowledge of community resources in substanceabuse treatment, along with experience in the team approach to treatment is required.Demonstrated success in engaging with diverse ethnoracial communities is an asset. You willalso possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal andwritten), combined with computer literacy. Bilingualism (French/English) or fluency in otherlanguages is an asset.

Please note: This full-time, 12-month temporary position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $27.30 - $36.82 per hour
