BROKENHEAD OJIBWAY NATION SAYS DEFENDING AND DENOUNCING RACISM IS NOT ENOUGH AND CONTINUES TO CALL FOR AN APOLOGY REGARDING THE RACIST COMMENTS MADE BY MANITOBA TORIES YOUTH PRESIDENT, BRAYDON MAZURKIEWICH
BROKENHEAD OJIBWAY NATION, Manitoba - Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Chief Bear is disappointed but not surprised Manitoba PC Leader, Brian Pallister would not apologize at a press conference today for the comments posted by Braydon Mazurkiewich, although Mazurkiewich was the Manitoba Tories Youth President at the time he posted First Nations citizens were “freeloading Indians”.
Chief Bear states, “Mr. Mazurkiewich was not exempt from upholding his official public duty”.
Chief Bear also states, “I have received the Tory two-step, defend and denounce, but no apology. The racist remarks had absolutely everything to do with Conservatives because Mr. Mazurkiewich held the political post of Tories Youth President when he made the abhorrent comments.”
The apology of Mr. Marzurkiewich is a mere sequel to last Friday as he firstly apologizes to the “PC Party of Manitoba for the negative media” even though his first strike was towards “freeloading Indians”, then he continues, “Secondly I’d like to apologize to all the aboriginal people who work hard and pay taxes and help make this country a better place”. Mr. Marzurkiewich should have apologized to all First Nations and Aboriginal peoples regardless of life station. His comments were made on a worldwide social media site which has a far-reaching, influential, incorrect and misinformed effect.
Chief Bear states, “Our ancestors secured and ensured our rights as First Nations of Canada and those rights are constitutionally protected. Brokenhead Ojibway Nation again requests that Pallister apologize on behalf of the Conservative Party to First Nations and Aboriginal people”. |
