MKO Grand Chief Formally Announces 2012 MKO Santa Express

WINNIPEG, MB – MKO Grand Chief Grand Chief David was pleased to annouce the 2012 MKO Santa Express schedule in front of media, corporate sponsors and residents flying out of Perimeter Aviation today. This year the MKO Santa Express will be travelling to all 30 MKO First Nations and delivering over 20,000 gift bags of candy and toys.

“I’d like to thank our corporate sponsors and all peoples involved with ensuring this year’s Santa Express will be another huge success. The ability to leave an everlasting positive impression in the hearts and minds of the children of our MKO First Nations is something I cherish” stated Grand Chief David Harper. “Without our Santa’s Sleigh sponsors including Custom Helicopters, Gardwine North and Perimeter Aviation, we would not be able to ensure each child in our territory would receive a gift and chance to meet Mr and Mrs. Santa Claus in their home community” remarked Grand Chief Harper.

This year MKO is honored to have Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo participate for the opening two days of the Santa Express. “I welcome the opportunity to fully support our peoples around the country. I am honoured to be part of the MKO Santa Express initiative starting next week. I would like to thank Grand Chief Harper and the MKO leadership for their incredible initiative and for the invitation to take part in bringing encouragement and support to our people” commented National Chief Atleo. “Above all, this is about the children – an essential reminder of our work and why our advocacy and determination is so very important. I cannot wait to see the excited faces of all those young children who will be receiving gifts directly from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.” concluded National Chief Atleo.

Also joining the MKO Santa Express for the opening two days will be Sam Anderson of Green Water Consulting, who organized a successful golf tournament in September involving many of the corporate partners with all proceeds going towards the Santa Express. “I knew in my heart that the Santa Express is something special and I was honoured to have been asked by Grand Chief Harper to bring many business associates together to help support the initative” stated Sam Anderson.

“I would like to also acknowledge all the staff of MKO and Perimeter for their dedication and a special acknowledgement to the many volunteers and organizations who have contributed their time and energy to the Santa Express. May God bless each and everyone this Holiday Season” concluded Grand Chief Harper.
